Laos and Russia Offer Mutual Visa Exemption

Laos and Russia have started offering mutual visa-free travel to each other’s citizens. This agreement, which came into effect on 2nd December 2017, was one of a series of bilateral agreements signed during the state visit of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to Laos in 2016.

The agreement permits ordinary passport holders of both countries to enter each other’s country for up to 30 days without an entry visa. During any period of 180 days, passport holders from either country may stay in the other country for a maximum of 90 days with multiple entries, with each trip not exceeding 30 days.

Russia becomes the first country outside the ASEAN region that Lao citizens can travel to without a visa.
