GENERAL INTRODUCTION

It has been 12 years now since I first landed in Vietnam. The past decade has been very rich in exploration and discovery. I have dedicated my life in Vietnam to research and development of innovative travel products, slowly opening then to neighbor destinations such as Cambodia and Laos. 

Along the years and with this solid product-oriented approach, I developed the market for numerous partners from West Europe bringing differentiation into their portfolio and making sure travelers come away with the feeling of having been on an exclusive tour. Member of the ASIA DMC family for a year, we design and operate different kinds of tour from luxury to soft-adventure and MICE for both FIT and GIT clients. Our signature is to always take travelers off the common travel clichés and take them straight to the heart of the country and of its people.

my first motorbiking trip in the Ha Giang province and the Dong Van geopark in the far North Vietnam. We call the region the "little Himalayas", roads are breathtaking and the diversity of ethnic cultures is one of the highest in the country.

Explore Indonesia further, ride North India on a Royal Enfield and indulge on a pristine beach somewhere in the Philippines.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION

I was born in Thailand but educated in the UK and China since the age of 9, with a special interest in different people and cultures, I was destined for a career in the travel industry.

I had seven years at the luxury tour operator Cox & Kings Travel in London, working firstly as a Far East sales consultant and then as Far East Product Manager, building up vital experience and knowledge of the tour operator side of the travel industry. To broaden my experience and hone my skills in the travel and tourism industry still further, I joined The Brighter Group, a leading travel PR and marketing specialist, as an Account Manager looking after the Taiwan Tourism Bureau account, which was won during my tenure.

My passion for the Far East and experience in representation led me to start my own representation and consultancy company in August 2013 with several clients who are destination management companies specialising in the region. I started representing ASIA DMC in July 2014 and have been impressed with the staff’s vision for the company’s growth, dedication to high standard of customer service and passion for the destinations, helping me to promote the company’s innovative products and tours to potential new partners in the UK with absolute confidence.

FAVORITE CITY/ REGION:

There are too many places to name because I love different places for different reasons but if I had to choose one it would be the Northeast of Thailand, where I’m originally from and I still visit regularly. The Northeast of Thailand or Isan is renowned for its spicy food including the world-famous Som Tum but it is also home to fascinating traditional culture and lively festivals as well as diverse places of interests such as Khmer temples of Phnom Rung and Prasat Hin Phimai, ancient settlements like Baan Chiang, the rock art at Pha Taem which is estimated to be 3,000 years old, wildlife and nature Khao Yai National Park, and the dinosaur excavation site and museum in Kalasin.

YOUR MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

I will never forget my journey to Lhasa in Tibet, which started with a train ride from Chengdu in Sichuan Province, China, through Lanzhou and Xining to Golmud, followed by an arduous and risky overland journey to Lhasa in a jeep I hired with my German friend. We encountered stringent checkpoints, were turned back to Golmud before embarking on a trek through the desert, slept overnight under the stars before finally reaching the city of my dreams, Lhasa. And we left Tibet by plane from Lhasa to Chengdu, no problem!

MY PLAN TRIPS ARE...

I plan to go back to Bhutan to do the Snowman’s Trek soon, having visited Bhutan and fallen in love with its people and the stunning landscape.

I’m a keen cook and I love to recreate dishes that I have eaten on my travels around the world for my family and friends. I also love listening to music, reading and going for walks in the woodlands and parks near my house.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION

I studied Business and Tourism Management in The Netherlands and completed my education with courses on economics and finance. My first job in the tourism industry was as a host and office manager for a Dutch Travel Agency in Greece. After two years working in the Peloponnese and Pelion I was promoted to Destination Manager. During winter season (2 months) I travelled around the world because I am always very fascinated to meet different cultures and explore new destinations. During my first trip to SE Asia/Thailand I fell in love right away with the country. I came back to Greece for one more season and was offered a job as Destination Manager for a Dutch travel agency in Chiang Mai followed by senior management positions for renowned DMCs in Thailand and Vietnam before joining the Asia DMC leadership team.

To date, I have been living in Southeast Asia for 10 years and I look forward to my 20 year Anniversary. 

Asia DMC is a breath of fresh air for the travel industry in Asia. Full of ideas, creativity, respect for the destinations and a deep commitment to the communities in which we operate, I am delighted to be joining and we will work to continue to deliver exceptional programmes in Myanmar.

Putao, a small town surrounded by snow-capped mountains, freshwater streams and luscious forest. Hkakabo Razi, the highest mountain in South East Asia is also visible from here. Using Putao as a base, one can carry out a range of adventurous excursions including trekking, mountaineering and white water rafting. It is also possible to venture deep into the Himalayan foothills, but these expeditions are reserved for only the most experienced of mountaineers.

YOUR MOST MEMORABLE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

My first jungle trekking around Shan State Region with overnight at Teak Wooden Monastery or the time when I explored the rural villages around Bagan where they didn’t see any foreigner before and be welcomed by the kindest, most friendly people who are willing to go above and beyond to make friends with you, help you out and make sure you are having a great time in their country. They always seem to be happy, smiling and keen to practice their English over a glass of tea. 

Myanmar offers real adventure, If you’re looking for some off the beaten path trekking, you won’t find a lusher landscape than that of Myanmar’s jungle-clad limestone peaks, punctuated with hidden monasteries and relics of a lost time and just one of the reasons why you should pack your bag and head to Myanmar and discover the Asia of 100 years ago.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION

I have been working in the hospitality industry since graduation from the Hotelschool The Hague in the Netherlands in 1993. I have more than 20 years’ experience in Tourism & Travel industry. I am very capable of making the right connections between the Western and Asian cultures, and is a natural leader, setting a high standard of commitment and leading by example.

I started my career with working for Kuoni. From there, I led the MKT and Product Department for ICS. I found ny next challenge with the German tour operator Transorient Touristik, as the General Manager in Bangkok.  

I then moved on to leading a great team of passionate people at Khiri Travel to create unique travel experiences for guests, while positively impacting the world. Today, I is running my own DMC for discerning travellers who want to see the splendours of Thailand and discover its riches.
