Naga New Year Festival 2017

Numerous Naga tribes spread throughout the north-western hills of Myanmar, with most Naga originating from the Chin State.

The New Year festival occurs in the Sagaing division, in locations Khamti, Lashe, Lahe, and Nanyun. In total, there are 64 clans in the Naga tribe. The Naga festival is a social event used to exchange previous year experiences, make plans for the coming year, and to discuss how to overcome difficulties. The locals pray for good weather, abundant crops, and healthy domestic animals. Another aspect of this festival is the reunion of relatives, who are away from home. Worship to deities is completed through animal sacrifices. This year, the festival will be held in Lahe Township on the 12th of January, 2017.

This tour is a great way to witness something extremely extraordinary, as the Naga will be dressed in their traditional clothing as well as participating in traditional sporting events and cooking traditional cuisine. This is a chance to see something that only a few have ever had the chance to experience—don’t miss it!
