The first Sofitel opened in Myanmar

On 5 March, Accor Hotels opened its first Sofitel in Myanmar along the shores of Inle Lake, the country second largest freshwater lake and an emerging tourist destination as well as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Sofitel Inle Lake Myat Min is located 47 km from Heho Airport with 101 rooms include 36 luxury rooms and 65 suites of varying sizes.

Following Inle Lake’s inscription as a site in UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves programme in 2015, Sofitel Inle Lake is likely to be one of the last new hotels to be built directly by the water.

Inle lake, in Shan State, is famous for its boatmen who propel their boats with a one-legged rowing technique, but the lake and valley is also known for cottage industries and cultural heritage in lakeside villages accessible from the hotel by boat or car.
