Discover the Colour of Doi Tung festival in Chiang Rai

Celebrate the New Year by enjoying the annual “Colours of Doi Tung” celebration in northern Thailand’s Chiang Rai province, which runs until 28th January 2018.

The festival transforms the mountains of Doi Tung into the highest walking street in Thailand, at 1,000 metres above sea level. The area will be filled with shops, food and coffee stalls, arts and entertainment.

Guests can learn about the area’s six ethnic minorities, the Akha, Lahu, Shan, Thai Lue, Lawa and Chinese, through handicrafts, cuisine and cultural performances. There will also be craft workshops, including ceramics and making the traditional Lanna flag, or “tung”, both of which make great take-home souvenirs.
