Five-Star Yangon Excelsior Hotel to Open in 2017

Yangon’s hotel inventory has expanded rapidly since the country opened for tourism in 2011, and another major new five-star property is on track to open before the end of 2017.

Yangon Excelsior Hotel, which is set in a renovated heritage building, is expected to open soon in downtown Yangon. The four-storey building used to be the trading headquarters of Steels Brothers in the British colonial era and later became the Burmese government’s Trade Corporation building. The hotel will offer 74 rooms and the interior design will re-tell the story of Yangon in the olden days.

As Myanmar’s tourism market continues to grow, multiple new hotels are expected to enter the market in the coming months and years, including world-renowned chains. This will allow Myanmar to welcome a wave of tourists.
