Spend a night to explore local art and culture in Mandalay

In contrast to Yangon, Mandalay has fewer choices for night time entertainment and drinking as the city does not have any pubs and bars. However, if you prefer something different you can spend the night watching a puppet show, classical dance, or Burmese-style political satire by the Moustache Brothers. Here's our take on the best places to stay to discover the city’s unique nightlife.

Mandalay Hill Resort

Located at the foot of Mandalay Hill, Mandalay Hill Resort Hotel offers panoramic views of the sacred ground of Mandalay Hill and its pagodas as well as the Royal palace and its beautiful moat. The resort has 206 rooms which are tastefully decorated, providing lots of space and comfort. The Mandalay Hill Resort might be not as charming as the rest of the hotels in Burma but currently it’s the closest to a 5-star hotel you can get.
