Botanical Garden to Become New Tourist Site in Vientiane

A new botanical garden covering 15 hectares, located in Dansy village, Naxaythong District, Vientiane Capital, is set to become a new tourist destination in the capital.

An official opening ceremony was held on March 23 in Vientiane Capital in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr Lien Thikeo, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Boua-ngeun Saphouvong, a garden owner, Mr Phouvong Phamisith and relevant officials.

“The botanical garden will become a new tourist destination which is not far from the capital,” said Mr Phouvong. “The garden is part of encouraging the general public to protect forests and giving people the opportunity to experience real nature in the capital city,” he added. “My inspiration arose after I went to Dubai, a dry city, but they can create a beautiful garden that attracts visitors. Therefore, I thought to invest in creating a similar garden in my country,” Mr Phouvong said.
