6th March 2018In an effort to boost tourism during Visit Laos Year 2018, the Lao government has agreed offer visa-free entry to the citizens of four Scandinavian countries: Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
The visa waiver initiative took effect on 1st January 2018 and will run for 12 months, ending on 31st December 2018. Travellers from the four countries wishing to visit Laos will be able to stay in the country for 15 days without a visa.
It is estimated that over 17,000 Scandinavians travelled to Laos in 2016, an increase from 16,468 visitors in 2015. In addition to the Scandinavian arrangement, Laos has bilateral visa agreements with 11 countries, including the nine other ASEAN countries, Mongolia and Russia.
