Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has doubled its presence in Myanmar by introducing the upscale Wyndham Grand label to the country’s former capital, Yangon.
The new 291-room hotel features as part of the mixed-use 20-storey Kantharyar Centre tower, which also offers office space, serviced apartments and retail, all with views of the Kandawgyi Lake and the Shwedagon Pagoda. The theme of the hotel is attributed to the country's history, with lobby paintings reflecting the hinterland mountains, while decorations including crafted artefacts shaped as traditional vessels, all complement the city's red brick character.
Club Executive Suite
Rooms offer floor-to-ceiling views of either the city or the lake, wooden floors and bathrooms featuring a separate bath and shower. The Presidential Suite on the 20th floor offers separate living and dining areas, a sauna and an eight-person Jacuzzi. An Executive Club Lounge offering breakfast and evening cocktails is open to guests staying on the Executive Floor, along with two hours free use of the lounge's meeting room.
The hotel’s meeting rooms are catered for business gatherings of every size and style – from small retreats to grand corporate galas, whereas, the grand ballroom is perfect for hosting a meeting, conference, or corporate gathering. The Amarapura Grand Ballroom can also be split into two smaller rooms for meetings, conferences and social events.
Other public and guest facilities include two restaurants and two bars, one serving Burmese cuisine and the other specialising in fine Thai options. Guests can also access a fitness centre, day spa and outdoor swimming pool offering stunning views of the lake.
